OTHER WAYS TO TRAVEL

It’s summer, vacation time, time to think, to distance myself and stop to come back strong, time to travel (whoever can).

Well, I don’t know about you, but I haven’t been able to stop completely, nor have I traveled much either, as I’m still immersed in all kinds of tasks, organizing things and starting a series as well. What I have done is read and enjoy good films, and I’ll tell you that these are fantastic ways to travel when you can’t do it the way we all imagine. Besides, when we travel, in the strictest sense of the word, we “only” travel in space, whereas with reading we also travel in time and learn not only about other cultures but also about other eras.

I want to recommend a book and a film to take you on a journey through space and time. I recently read The World of Yesterday by Stefan Zweig. It’s written as an autobiography, and if you want to experience firsthand Europe in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, this is your book. The other day I also saw a film I recommend: Capernaum, directed by Nadine Labaki. In it, I was transported to Lebanon, to its harshest social realities. Okay, it’s not a comedy with a very summery theme, but it won’t leave you indifferent if you like good films that expose social problems with a touch of hope.

Besides watching movies and reading, I’ve also been painting. I’ve left you a picture above of the work I’m finishing these days, and I hope you’re having a fantastic summer.
