I’ve always enjoyed exploring and exploring limits and possibilities. These days, I’m immersed in a new project, using new media and new materials. This time, I want to move from the two dimensions of the canvas to three dimensions. It’s a sculptural ensemble using wooden logs.
The pieces I’m working on were cut down from lemon and orange trees in the province of Badajoz, after a frost that made it necessary, for the trees’ very survival, to cut down some of their branches. These pieces, with their evocative shapes and the strength they hold, appealed to me, and I wanted to give them a new life.
We live in times of collaboration and the search for synergies: artists seek to create with other artists from other fields, and interesting projects can also emerge with brands or other creators. For me, working with logs is a form of collaboration with nature and also a way to bring life, through my art, to pieces that were destined to burn in a fireplace.
I’ll tell you more soon! I’d love to show you the process.
